Great news for those who love to snuggle. According to Kathleen C. Light, Ph.D., a professor at the University of Utah, a touch from someone you trust relaxes your body, which, among other benefits, lowers your stress level. So this love month, cozy up with your beau because a hug:
- Soothe stress. Outsourcing your worries to another person calms your nerves.
- Fends of colds. A massage raises your body’s production of killer cells, which fight disease, according to a study from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.
- Lowers blood pressure. Women tend to show higher levels of the hormone oxytocin which dilates vessels, reducing blood pressure, whenever they hug their loved ones.
