  I learned English when I was 15, starting with verbs, nouns, adverbs, adjectives, and prepositions. Basically I learned the building blocks of a sentence. When I came to this country at age 16, I was surprised that my middle school classmates didn't know what a preposition was. With the advent of Twitter and texting that encourages emojies and abbreviated words, very few seem to appreciate proper writing. My biggest pet peeve is improper use of "I" as in "for my wife and I" or "between you and I", etc. POTUS uses "I" this way in interviews and so do journalists/writers. I don't understand.
